Dr. CAROL A. JANERETTE, Chief Science Officer
Janerette's Eco-Friendly Fungi was founded by Dr. Carol A. Janerette, a world-renowned botanist and environmental expert. Dr. Janerette has more than 45 years of progressively responsible research experience in the general area of plant physiology, and 40 years of experience researching mycorrhizae. In 1969 Dr. Janerette began working for the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) as a Forest Service Biologist where she successfully completed a comprehensive profile on the physiology, pathology, and ecology of sugar maple seeds; she also demonstrated their dormancy mechanism and methods of eliminating it. In 1975 she began working with mycorrhizae as a staff scientist on the Forest Service’s Pioneering Project on the Physiology of Mycorrhizae where she conceived, developed, and executed various research projects in the area of physiological aspects of mycorrhizae formation. From July 1984 to June 1985 Dr. Janerette served as a senior scientist for Analysis Group / Scientex, Inc. in Washington D.C. She was the principal participant on projects dealing with environmental issues such as developing an oil spill decision tree for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and defining terms used in handling radioactive materials for the U.S. Department of Energy (DoE). Dr. Janerette has served as an Associate Professor on two occasions teaching general biology at the University of the District of Columbia, Washington, D. C., and teaching botany courses at the University of Delaware. At the University of Delaware, she was also an integral figure in the Department of Plant and Soil Sciences conducting world renowned research on the physiology of mycorrhizae. In 1987, her research led to the invention of a patented Inoculum from Ectomycorrhizal Fungi Forming Endomycorrhizal Infection with Herbaceous Plants. Patents were granted in 15 countries and in the U.S. Dr. Janerette's work has been revered and lauded throughout the world. Her patented mycorrhizal inoculant is now ready to make a substantial impact towards everyday use around the world.
